Sancta Lucia Eye Clinic and Optical Services Ltd, Agbor, Delta State aim to continue assisting communities where we perceive there is a need. For instance, we provide free and/or discounted eye exams and frames to the elderly as well as providing free diabetes screenings, free weight check, and blood pressure tests. We also give free eye tests and provide academic scholarships to ika school children. Our community outreach also includes delivering public health lectures to community groups.

Defining Our Name
* Sancta / St. — Derived from the Latin sanctus (meaning “holy” or “sacred”), abbreviated as “St.” in English. It denotes a person recognized for exceptional holiness or, when applied to an institution, a commitment to a noble, higher purpose.
* Lucia / Lucy — Originates from the Latin lux, meaning “light.” Light is the fundamental element that enables vision and brings clarity to the world.
Together, Sancta Lucia translates to “Saint Lucy”—a title that bridges ancient heritage with our core mission of restoring and protecting sight.
The Legacy of St. Lucy
St. Lucy (c. 283–304 AD) was an early Christian martyr from Syracuse, Sicily, whose life and legacy have been celebrated for centuries, particularly on her feast day, December 13th. In Catholic tradition, she is honored as the patron saint of the blind, eyesight, and visual health.
In classic Christian art, St. Lucy is frequently depicted holding a small dish containing eyes—a striking symbol of her enduring association with sight. This rich tradition establishes her as an emblem of protection, hope, and visual clarity across generations.
